I can’t even believe I just wrote that…really. When we set out to put together the military box set, we planned to hit a list, but it’s one of those things that you talk about doing and then guard yourself against disappointment because you never expect it to happen.
Well, it happened.
Cat Johnson, Elle James, Delilah Devlin, Sharon Hamilton, Melissa Schroeder and I hit the USA TODAY at number 100, which is a bit of a feat in and of itself. The list carries the top 150 bestselling books in the country. We were in the top 100.
As a writer, an INDIE writer, this is so huge for me.
Thank you for all the congrats and well-wishes.
Now, back to writing!!!
Remember that secret project I couldn’t talk about? Well, I can now.
Uniform Desires is a fabulous military themed anthology ON PRE-ORDER NOW that will be releasing on Veteran’s Day, November 11th. Six wonderful authors have created brand new content for the anthology and I’m super excited for its release. Check it out. My book is titled Her Forever Hero, and may be the start of a new series, the Vail branch of Lost And Found. Here’s the blurb-
Kendall Herrington is drawn to her handsome new security guard, prosthetic hand and all. The man is totally wrong for her, but on a lonely Christmas night, in a wine-laden effort to get him out of her system, she gives into her body’s demands. She regrets her actions almost immediately and tries to distance herself.
Former Marine Grafton Parks knows Kendall Herrington is pregnant, she’s just too stubborn to admit it to herself. But the luscious woman better come to her senses soon, because the board won’t allow an unwed, pregnant female to run the multi-billion dollar Herrington Limited. Even if she is the boss’s daughter.
As they struggle to come to terms with each other, an unexpected danger threatens their very lives. Will they survive long enough for him to be…Her Forever Hero?
So, I have a few scheduling things to tell you about. And I want to make it clear. If you are in the vicinity and would like to meet up while I’m at any of these things, just shoot me an email and we’ll see what we can do. I LOVE meeting readers!
October 4th and 5th I’ll be in Lebanon, Tennessee at the Indie Romance Convention, WHICH STILL HAS ROOM FOR READERS!!!!! I’ll also be signing somewhere around Nashville on the 6th. I’ll post details as soon as I know them.
October 24th – 27th I’ll be at the Novelist Inc conference in Myrtle Beach SC. I don’t know that it’s a reader event, but if you’re in the area and would like to meet, just let me know.
May 14-18 I’ll be in New Orleans!!! for the Romantic Times Convention!
I’ll be at Arizona Dreamin’ May 29th to June 1st, 2014. Plenty of time to make plans to come see me! Send me an email if you do plan to come down; maybe I can get you a deal.
June 5-8 I’ll be at the Lori Foster event in West Chester Ohio, one of my favorite conferences!
All of these are pretty firm, but more may be added at some point.
As for BOOKS…
Chad’s book is due as soon as I can get it out. I’m going to shoot for spring or before. We’ll see how the words go.
I also still have a contemporary western to release that only needs an ending.
Preston’s book is already pushing at my brain, so I hope to get through Chad’s book as quickly as I can.
Things pop up so please be patient! I’m writing just as fast as I can!
July started with a bang for me, no pun intended. I released Zeke and Ember’s story, Embattled Minds, and it was an immediate best-seller. Actually, a month down the road it is still on several lists, including military and police procedurals. I can not tell you how thrilling it is to hit lists like that. And readers and reviewers are loving it. I just received a blue-ribbon endorsement from Romance Junkies reviews.
“After reading this book, I am thoroughly convinced that it is one of the all-time top series I have ever experienced. Five ribbons just doesn’t do this book justice, it is well worth 10 ribbons because it is a perfect romance!”
Thank you Suzie!
I went to Fandom Dest in Louisville Ky last week, and it was fascinating. Though the literary track was lacking and a little offensive, the sci-fi fan part of it was pretty cool. Yes, I’m a geek at heart. Grew up watching Star Trek and enjoy the series even now, so it was a real treat to see William Shatner speak. He was very articulate and gracious, even though a couple of the audience members were testing his patience.
I also saw the incredibly luscious Jason Mamoa, and can I say how gorgeous he is in person? Literally, he took his toboggan off at the Q & A, and people sighed. Loudly. Felt a little bad for the guy, because he couldn’t go anywhere without people trying to latch on. Yes, I admit, I latched on. BUT, I paid $40 to do it. The actors charged for the pleasure of being in a picture with them, ranging from $100 for a Gene Simmons pic ($500 to sign a guitar!) down to $20 or $30 for smaller actors. I think everybody charged.
Saw a glimpse of Stan Lee in a Q&A, Michael Rooker, Norman Reedus, Alan Tudyk, Lew Temple, Adrian Paul, Butch Patrick and several others.
I’m currently writing my ass off for a secret project I should be able to talk about more later this month. I’m also working on Chad’s book, due out in December-ish.
Also, I paid my fee to attend Arizona Dreamin’ as one of it’s featured authors in May. Here’s a link to check it out. If you’re going to be in the area, let me know and we’ll see about getting together!
Happy reading Peeps!
This is so appropriate right now, because the thermometer on my phone says it is 13 degrees outside and dropping. Kentucky gets cold, but not normally this cold. Next week we’re supposed to be in the negative at night! BRRR…..

Luckily for me, I’m writing a couple of hot scenes. The following is from an untitled story related to my Lost and Found series.

possibly too many for me to take on alone.” He couldn’t help but grin. “But I
would have done my best.”

caressed the bristly beard down to his chin, and he felt obligated to be blunt.
“I’m not a regular guy, Willow. I can’t take you out dancing or to a county fair
without planning exit strategies and collateral damage. I’ve been stateside for
three years now, but I still live as if I’m in a warzone. To some extent, I
probably always will. I don’t know that anything will ever change that. And I
don’t know that that would be a good environment for you.”

she had. She met him move for move. Fingernails dug into his ribs, then
burrowed beneath his shirt to his skin. Flynn shuddered at the first intimate
touch he’d felt in years. Her hand moved across his ribs and brushed his pectorals.

lingering nibble, he pulled away. He scanned the surroundings, but didn’t see
any immediate threat. Circling the truck hood, he slid into the vehicle.

hazy expression. “Are you okay? You look a little flushed.”
“Can I help it if I’m recovering from one of the hottest kisses I’ve ever had?”
trying to decide if she were bullshitting him or not. She looked totally
sincere. And aroused. The erection he’d been trying to tame renewed, making him
look on her face. “Yeah, I’m not the only one, am I?”
Grinning with her, he started the truck and shoved it into gear.
This book won’t be out for a couple of months, I’m sorry. But I’ve got a couple of free downloads of my book Embattled Minds for anyone who tells me about the hottest scene they’ve read recently. And if you bounce along on the rest of the hop, you can be entered to win a Kindle, a Nook, gift cards and book downloads! A pretty awesome way to spend a chilly weekend if you ask me! Just click on the fireplace to be taken to the list.
It took a little longer than I expected, but Embattled Minds is finally live.
What started out as a short, quick, filler novella, kept getting longer and more involved, until I wondered if I would ever get it tied up. Once again, I was writing about something I know very little about, so it was taking longer. I had scenes in mind, it was just writing them down correctly.
Ember scrawled something on her pad and headed for the kitchen. As if she felt him watching, she glanced around and immediately locked gazes with him. She smiled and threw a little wave.
Zeke swallowed heavily and turned to look down at the table, his skin tightening uncomfortably across his scalp. The scars there didn’t move the way regular skin did, and when he got embarrassed, which seemed like all the time, it felt like ants biting at him. He took a heavy breath and started lining up his words in his head, because he knew she would be over for their order.
No sooner had the thought occurred and she was there, smiling big and planting one hand on her curvy hip. “Hi guys. What can I get you?”
Chad knew to lead off, because it gave Zeke time. Diego unclenched his jaw enough to order his cola, and Terrell ordered a house beer. Then, she turned her big, dark chocolate colored eyes to him.
He took a breath, thought about the words and spit them out.
Her fine dark brows furrowed and she cocked her head. “Uh, what?”
Fighting not to flinch from her look, he replayed the words in his head. Oh, no. He hadn’t said dark chocolate eyes, had he? He glanced at the guys and they were all grinning at him, and he knew he had. Fuck!
“House beer,” he snapped.
With a curious look, she turned away.
“Did I…a-actually say d-dark chocolate eyes?”
Chad laughed out loud and clapped him on the shoulder. “I knew you liked the girl, but I didn’t expect you to hit on her like that.”
Zeke shook his head, totally disgusted and completely mortified. As if it weren’t bad enough he couldn’t talk like a normal human being, now his brain had to pick up words he had no intention of uttering? It had tricked him before, but never so brilliantly.
For the millionth time, he wished he’d never taken cover behind that wall.
